Patty Griffin, born March 16, 1964, is an American singer-songwriter from Old Town, Maine. She was such a singer artist, who was not interested in making singing as a career. Griffin never gave importance to this career. But she became one of the world class singers in her time.

Patty Griffin was born on March 16, 1964 in Old Town, Maine. She was the youngest child in her family. She was cute girl and looked innocent. She could well have been a model if she had decided to be so. She grew up listening music from her mother and grandmother during her childhood. She used to listen to music of Beatles. She was impressed by music of Bruce Springsteen and Rickie Lee Jones.

At the age of 16, she bought guitar for $50 and subsequently started to write songs. At that time she was not serious about the music. She never thought about music career at prime level.

Patty Griffin moved to Boston after living in Florida for two years. She got married and her husband inspired her to plunge in the music world. She worked as waitress at that time. In 1992, she was divorced. After divorce she started to sing in Boston-area Coffeehouse.

She was noticed by people who listened to her gusty vocals as she sang her well-composed songs. She came under attention of high talented people through her demo tapes.

Within short span of time of approximately six months, the redone demo was appreciated by A&M. The tape was later released as Griffin’s debut, living with the ghosts. They were recorded by Tori Amos and Alanis Morisette. Griffin released second album “Flaming Red” in 1998. She was admired by people for her melodious voice and guitar playing style.

After elapsing time of four years, she came up with acoustic effort “1000 kisses”. She made many efforts to promote the album in 2002. Meanwhile she documented behind-the-scenes footage for a future DVD collection. This appeared in October 2003 and included the coverage of traveling, interviews, two length videos. The package also offered Griffin’s live stint at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Famous world class artists also supported her for fourth album. They were Lisa Germano, Emmylou Harris and Buddy & Julie Miller.

The album was “Impossible dream”, launched in April 2004.
