A successful Public Relation Concept

Public relation always happens through the offers, that is which you already do. For these offers public relation is done, through different methods: handbills, stickers, brochures, cold calls and the like. These offers determine the picture of your business - how the public views you. Which offer is put out is extremely important.

For some folks, occupying themselves with descending products and services has systematically build up a negative attitude over the past years. They become known through their negative-news and that has a very bad consequence to the owner and the business.

Become clear over your offer-palette and in order to to base a systematic and easy public relation flow on it, the following matrix will be quite helpful: star-product, rising products, descending products, cash cow.

Offers, which I call descending products characteristically show up with pretty low resonance. Revise or abolish them quickly. Too much time and energy is wasted otherwise and frustration will be the result.

New-developments, which I call "rising product" should push up to increase a consistently high resonance. A lot of advertisement is needed to get the business going. To do the same (lukewarm) intensity marketing as you do to well running services, is a huge mistake many businesses and entrepreneurs do. Introduced offers or well running services I call milk-cows here. If the picture you put out to the public is scattered, your "newcomer" service or product won`t make it very far! Therefore, rising products need the focused advertisement.

Cash cows are the offers, products, that are introduced and run more or less by itself. If a business has none or too little cash cows, the business will look drained. To few cash cows are "on the pasture" if the rising products are not looked after sufficiently until they simply give milk, or if too many new products are developed and if descending products are not revised or are abolished respectively.

Look at it this way. In order to do effective public relation a good management is basic.

Even greater management-qualities are necessary for the star-product. Star-products usually are not at all existing, because the genius and creativity of the business-owner and employees are occupied the descending products or with too many new-developments. The star-product shines by itself and draws the attention of the market on itself.

1. Establish a herd of cash cows and feed them moderately, so to speak. 2. Do yourself a favor and restrict yourself to only one star-product. 3. Have a few new-developments (rising products) in your service- and product-pipeline - let your public relation and advertisement be steady with that and they can become new milk-cows in your portfolio very soon. 4. Free your company from descending products as quickly as possible. If you think it is worth the trouble - re-work and modernize the service/product.
