Consider hiring janitorial services for your home if you have a fast-paced, active lifestyle and lacking of “free” time. If you are hiring a janitorial cleaning service for your home, it is important to know whom you are letting into your house. Getting to know the service you’re hiring is needed to protect yourself, your family and your property.

But the question is: since so many independent janitorial cleaning service companies are available in local directory, how do you know which company is registered and credible to work for you.

First, most janitorial companies include in their advertisements that they are Licensed, Insured and Bonded. Honestly, some people are just as confused as I am when I first entertained the concept of hiring a cleaning company.

Licensed
Obviously, find a company that has business registration or permit to operate from the local government. Being a licensed company is one of your assurance.

Bonded
Also make sure that the janitorial cleaning service company is bonded for its house cleaning clientele. Should any theft issues occur, you need to be protected. Some companies, if they’re bonded, protect themselves, not the consumer. So be sure to ask about this.

Insured
Don’t we all love insurance? So make sure to ask the janitorial company if they are insured. If a cleaner slipped while cleaning the shower, your cleaning company should cover the incident.

The concept of insurances to cleaning companies should have liability and employee accident coverage and should include your home, the cleaner(s) and the company itself.

References
How many years have they been in operation? Ask the company about references and their work history. When calling for referred clients of the janitorial cleaning company, ask some key questions like, “How long have you used the house cleaning service?” “Did you have any minor complications from the company during their service to you? How did the service resolve the issue?” and “Would you recommend Fresh & Bright Cleaning Service?”

Employee screening and hiring
Even if the company you hired is licensed to operate, are their employees the same? Ask the company if they check for their employee’s references including criminal and civil records, and residency.

You might want to ask if they hire subcontractors and part-time cleaners. A cleaning company using subcontractors and part timers are not provided with the companies staff training and may not provide liability insurance.

Cleaning products and equipments
A janitorial cleaning company normally provides cleaning service supplies along their service. Ask them if they do; if not, find out what type of cleaning products will be used for cleaning and if they contain harsh chemicals, and which equipments will they need.

Quality Assurance and Customer Feedback
A janitorial cleaning service should have quality assurance procedures facilitated by the cleaning company’s project supervisor. A Quality Assurance procedure is a measurement that examines the quality standards every cleaning job — nevertheless, the quality of service is met.

Aside from the job examination conducted at homes, it is always relevant to measure not only the cleaning done, but also the customer’s feedback. This is done through qualitative interviews and survey questionnaires. Answering this provides consumer insight for the janitorial cleaning service company on how they can address issues in the future and better their products and services.

Guarantee
And lastly, always ask for customer hotline numbers. Should there be any complaints about the job done that haven’t been noticed after the cleaning job, you can call them immediately for concerns. Also, a warranty for a service has a written agreement, so make sure to ask for it, too.

Know prior to the cleaning job the limitations of the guarantee and what steps you should take to execute the guarantee.

IMPORTANT
All of these should be raised before the cleaning job. By doing so, it will be more convenient and less worries.
